Although many offciers of the Wehrmacht and SS wore
the same boots as enlisted soldiers, most people envision them wearing
tall boots and breeches. These are the stereotypical "riding
boots".
German officers' boots often were privately purchased and thus exhibited
numerous variations and patterns. The majority were a few centimeters
taller than the standard issue jackboots, and the shaft was closer
fitting around the calf. Some were hobnailed, many were not and some
even had rubber half soles and heels.
As of 2007, we have not yet had reproductions of the WWII Officer
boots made. We do have a nearly identical substitute, the East German
issue officer boots. We have two styles of these:
Dress Boots: This model is the stereotypical boot for the
fuhrer in the leather greatcoat who likes to backhand captured Maquis
with his gloves. They have a smooth, high gloss finish that shines
easily. All of these have rubber soles. It is possible to have them
converted, but it may cost as much as $100.
Combat Boot: These have pebble-textured leather. It is duller
than the dress boots, thus being more appropriate for field use. It
is less prone to showing scuffs and scratches and less obvious from
a camouflage perspective. Many of these have leather soles with wood
pegs just like WWII boots. The majority of these still have rubber
half soles and heels, but any competent cobbler can remedy that for
$25-50.
FAQ
Russian Boots? Yes, the Officer Combat Boot is also appropriate
for Red Army impressions.
Leather? Probably they are. However, as these were made by
a now defunct regime. Our lab is still out of commission since Harold
put than can of Chicken Noodle in the microwave, so we won't be able
to give you an exact chemical analysis. If they aren't leather, they
may be made from the elephants that Erich Hoenicker imported from
Cuba in 1962.
Calf Size! If you have massive calves, either due to
genetics, body building or beer drinking, these will most likely
not fit you. They will fit 14-16" calves (depending on the
size of the boot) or smaller.
No. These do not adjust. We cannot make the calves larger.
Other Sizes? Nope. These are surplus. Not new production. They
were made in the 1950's. The factory is probably out of business.
Not sure how we can explain this more clearly...
Why no big sizes for cheap???
1. We bought 1,300 pairs of boots. Of those, fewer than 40 pairs were
size 11 or larger. Yes, really. If you don't believe me, come see.
2. Repros? Eventually, but they will be $150-200. Huh??? Go find new,
leather riding boots anywhere for $50.
3. Cheaper??? We could carry "pleather" (artificial leather)
boots for about $60, but they are rubbery and look like shit, so we
don't.

East German Officer Dress Boot
Smooth, patent leather finish riding boots. Rubber soles. Most if not
all are unissued and unworn. Some storage dust and scuffs (from being
in bins with 300 other boots) possible. About 15" tall (from the bottom of the heel to the top of the shaft) depending on the size.
Sizing: We have only 1 (one) size left. There
are no more coming. This is all we will have. Yes, I'm VERY sure. 110%.

Larger sizes
will not ever be available in these boots.
These were the end of the surplus officer boots.

Fit Notes:
1. If you wear a half size, order the next larger size.
For example, if you wear a 9 1/2, order 10.
2. If you wear a 9 1/2, the "9" will be too small.
3. If the boots squeak or are slightly tight,
try removing the cardboard insole (not all boots have them, but
most appear to.)

East German Officer Combat Boots
Early production, black, pebbled leather
(just like in the picture) East German Army officer
riding boots. Nearly identical to WWII issue officer boots. Most
have leather soles and rubber half soles. All have rubber heels. Some
are unissued, others are lightly used, but all are in very good+ condition.
We have a limited size range and we will be unable to get any other
sizes or any more large sizes. Yes, you can shine these. They will look
pretty spiffy with some Kiwi and some time. They simply aren't the patent
leather shiny like the dress boots. About 15" tall (from the bottom of the heel to the top of the shaft) depending on the size.
They are priced by size, as the larger ones are very limited.
