Which cup is "correct"?
Either. They were issued indiscriminately. If someone tells you that one is for paratroopers and the other for the SS, they are an idiot and should be regarded as such. From personal experience, the aluminum ones tend to rattle but the bakelite ones are small and near useless as a cup so...that probably helps alot doesn't it?

Reproduction of the bakelite cup used on both 750ml and 1 liter canteens throughout the War. These are probably plastic rather than real Bakelite- but they look and are marked just like the originals.
