improvements:

rolled rims.
-Better color
-Spanner Bolts
-More authentic liner bands and better overall finish.
-Chinstraps have original zinc grommets.

M38 Fallschirmjäger Helmet
New reproduction FJ helmets. These are good quality helmets that are
very similar to our previous helmets, but for less than half the price.
These are actually a copy of our copy. All the details of the original
are here. Crash pad, correct chinstrap, size 71 shell, maker marks
and slotted spanner bolts.
Size: All are marked "59" but measure 61 cm. There
is no possibility of getting other sizes in the foreseeable future.
$100.00
For
those of you hammering Gina with millions of anxious questions about
"how bad are these?"
The differences between these and our previous FJ helmets are:
Shell: 2.2 pounds as opposed to 2.5 for our
old ones and originals. The "CKL 71" stamps suck. The rolled rim is not as neat.
Chinstrap: Very Good. The flesh (rough) side is a bit dark,
and the snap is not a "Prym". Otherwise, equal to our old
ones.
Liner: Excellent. They are equal in quality to those used in our previous helmets.
If you buy one of these helmets and one of our high quality shells
and switch the parts, you will have a helmet that is equal to our
older ones.
That's all. The overall quality is fine. They are good enough that
we have discontinued our other helmets as they cannot compete on price.
However, if you are considering trying do a hump job and sell one
of these as original, you'll have to find a real sucker due to the
crappy stamps in the shell.
If you want to scream and cry because
the markings aren't as realistic and our color was better, save it.
The $200 price difference more than makes up for that.
Fruitcake customers who require a comparison to an original helmet on the molecular level (gauge, HRC rating, gas chromatography & mass spectrometer measurements etc) will need to contract with a laboratory (of their choice and at their expense) and arrange drop shipment to said faciltiy.
Note: "Perfect" reproductions do exist, but not for $99.
They are sold as originals (surprise) and cost around $1,000. Several European dealers of ill repute offer them. No, we do't have their contact info.
FAQ
Spare liners or chinstraps? No. We have asked and so far no dice.
This company is rather flaky. Yes, these liners will fit our high
quality FJ shells (below). If you need a liner and chinstrap, buy
one of these and throw the shell away....
Spanner Bolts? We sell them separately. We won't change them
out as we'd have to disassemble the helmet and repaint them to match.
Prym snaps? It's not practical for us to try to drill these
out and replace the off brand snaps. We don't have any size 4 Pryms
at the moment anyway.
Are these really any good? Yes. For reenacting they are peachy.
With a cool "restification" they'll look great. However,
they're unlikely to fool anyone at the local Militaria Extravaganza.
