will be $30-40.
Note 1: The color may vary somewhat from the photo. (Lighter or darker,
but no polka-dots)
Note 2: Under no circumstances MACHINE-WASH AND/ OR PUT WOOL BLANKETS
IN DRYER. You will create a monster ball of soggy gray lint. We will
not accept any item for return that has been washed.
Authenticity notes: Yes, we copied the
marking from an original in a photo. Just for torture, although
black and white, the blanket in that photo was clearly white or cream
colored... not gray. So before the next Professors Emeritus
Naziknowitallhistoricus calls and snivels about the the Germans
not using this or that particular tone of gray.... take a valium and
go rent "Nazi Love Stalag 69" and occupy yourself in
a more useful fashion.
For the serious people out there, "HU" (Heeres Unterkunft)
was stamped or branded on a number of barracks & hospital items:
towels, wash basins, boot pulls, shaving mirrors etc.. The blanket
in the photo was stamped on the corner, not in the center. It's a
property mark, not an advertisement. The Germans were serious recyclers,
and nearly any color of military blanket was undoubtedly in use. Considering
the quantities of British, French, Italian, Polish and Russian stores
captured, it is very likely that brown and/or striped blankets would
have been every bit as plentiful as any other color during the War.
We realize that, from a marketing standpoint, making blankets in ANY
color other than GRAY, would be the rough equivalent to telling jokes
about Jesus and Freddy Mercury at the Southern Baptist Convention.
Just to shoot more holes in our products, most originals were not
marked anyway....
