All boots and shoes eventually wear out. This is a fact of life- not a defect. Soles and heels are like tires or brake pads- if you replace them before they are completely shot, the life of the footwear can be greatly extended. Common sense in years past, but today this concept seems to be a revelation to many.
We (ATF) DO NOT repair boots!
Most cities have a few cobblers or shoe repair shops. Granted, their capabilities vary as does their quality. For over 20 years, we have used Cinderella Show Repair in Louisville, KY to fix our own shoes & boots. He has plenty of experience with hobnails, heel irons, half soles, full soles and so forth. He's repaired many jump and combat boots for soldiers from Ft. Knox and Ft. Campbell.
US boots can be problematic- finding the exact soles isn't easy. He has some that are close, but not exact. But it's cheaper than new boots. German boots are easier in that leather soles are just that- a hunk of leather.
Anyway, Pete can fix almost anything. Now, if you want your 30 inch calves to fit into some sexy German Officer Boots, he probably can't help you. He does not manufacture boots or shoes, just repairs them.
Lastly, we removed his info a few years ago because a few weenies drove him crazy demanding 2 hour turn around time on their boots. He's cool, but like most people he has his limits. He usually takes a week to 10 days turn around, but he does a good job and won't screw things up. So plan ahead or find a local guy if you think you're going to be a jackass. He's a great cobbler, but he's not a militaria expert or living historian. he can't tell you which unit wore hobnails on their jump boots.
Also, it's best to call him first for a heads-up before you ship him any boots. Lastly, we are NOT involved in any transaction you have with Cinderella. You must deal directly with him- he is 100 miles away from us so we can't "run your shoes over" to him.
