Leather Palm Wool Gloves
Developed in 1942, these were the standard issue winter glove for the entire War. They are made from olive drab wool and have brown leather palms to increase their service life. Our gloves are made from the correct knit wool, and include realistic spec labels.
Why so darned expensive? The blasted wool. I had never paid much attention to these gloves. It was only when I regained consciousness after receiving the initial price quote that I studied them more closely and saw that the wool was a knit. It stretches and forms to your hand. The other reproductions are made from melton wool (like the lining of a Tanker Jacket) which has no stretch to it and hence does not form at all. It's uncomfortable, difficult to move your fingers and falls off unless you keep your fingers bent when your hand is down at your side. Anyway, the minimum order for this wool would be enough to make 10,000 pairs- in order to avoid that, we had to pay a hefty surcharge to do a small quantity. That's why. But these compare very well to originals both in appearance and performance. They seem a bit expensive, but they are the only repros that are done correctly.
Sizing: Like originals. 9, 11. That's basically M, or XL.

"Horsehide" Riding Gloves
Originally
a cavalry item, these gloves are most commonly associated with Paratroopers.
Originals were made from horsehide, but it is now prohibitively expensives
(the price would double). Thus, I have put the word "horsehide"
in paranthases. They are leather, not horsehide. Our 100% leather reproductions
are a great quality copy of the famous airborne accessory. Size L only.

Note on restock: We are working on getting genuine horsehide gloves made. We should know by January whether or not this is going to fly. If not, then we'll reorder these same gloves and try again in the future.

WWII US Wool Scarf
These are new, US Made, 100% wool reproductions of the US military issue scarf. Not surplus green ones. We have made a few dozen of these to see how they go. I'm afraid the price will scare everyone off. Sorry, but real wool is not cheap. We looked into making these overseas and they would only have been about 25% cheaper- and that was for 50/50 wool acrylic blend. 100% wool was "special order" + huge quantity (3,000). On a lark, I sent one to the knitting company (in the USA) that does our jeep cap wool and I got a surprise. They could duplicate the material almost perfectly. (See comparison photo).
The $10 variety are surplus. Those are now on the closeout page. Those are green and only about half as long so you really need to tie two of them together to equal these. I looked at online retailers of quality clothing (not Big Lots or Overstock.com, that's surplus again) and real wool scarves generally start at $50 and range up to $100. So, we'll give this a shot.
There were two main variations of wool scarf issued in WWII. One was tubular in construction and the other was a thicker, one piece pattern. Our scarves are the second style. The knitting company was able to weave fabric that was very close to the original in weave and weight. The fabric is slightly coarser and about 10% thicker than the original. The color is excellent- the same mustard/ olive drab as our jeep caps. We cut and sew them here in our shop, so we also made sure that these are as long as the WWII scarf- 54" (135cm) - enough to actually wrap around your neck and tuck into your jacket.
