M1910 Canteen & Cup

: $24.99

Product Description

New reproduction of the 1 quart M1910 Canteen and "nesting" cup. Designed in 1909, these were produced through 1918 in both welded and spun (seamless) versions. When WWII began, a stainless steel "M1942" canteen was introduced to save aluminum, but production of the M1910 resumed late in 1942 after restrictions on the metal were lifted.

These canteens and cups are made from aluminum, and use the domed pattern metal cap, with chain, and cork gasket. The M1910 was used throughout both World Wars and Korea. From 1942 onward, newly manufactured examples had plastic instead of metal caps.

Unlike our other US canteens, these are the same dimensions as originals and thus fit the canteen covers more fully.

Cleaning: We recommend washing all canteens out before use. The best method we've found is to fill the flask about half full with hot water, add a little vinegar, screw the cap on, then shake vigorously for a minute or so. Drain it out, rinse with cold water, and place upside down (a dish rack works well) and allow to dry. Dishwashers will NOT work because the neck of the flask is too narrow for the water to reach the inside.
