German troops serving in Rommel's Afrika Korps were issued "tropical" uniforms in place of their fieldgray wool models. The first model of the tropical field blouse was made from olive colored cotton twill, with pleated pockets and scalloped flaps. In contrast to the wool version, it had an open collar, partial lining, and removeable buttons. Later versions had simplified pockets.
This tunic was the standard service coat worn throughout the battles in North Africa and Tunisia. Its issue was not exclusive to the DAK (Deutsches Afrikakorps) and these, along with the later versions, were also worn by troops serving in Sicily, Italy, France and the Balkans.
Our reproductions are the best made. I designed and patterned them using my original examples- no other copies were involved in any way. This is why they fit and look like the WWII tunics. We had the somewhat peculiar "stepped line" cotton twill specially woven and color matched, S-rings made for the detachable buttons, and these are correct down to the size stamps.
Fit: Same as WWII. These do not have "suit coat shoulders" like many reproductions that are based on sport coat patterns. This means that one has full range of motion with their arms.
Length: Sizes S-L are "regulars" and XL and larger are "longs".
Care: Hand wash/ hang dry.
Above are some of the original examples we used to develop these uniforms. All aspects- pattern, fabrics, color, buttons and fittings were determined from the authentic items. Our uniforms share zero DNA with any other reproduction.
Imported.
