Product Description

Commonly known as the "D"-Bale helmets, these are our top of the line Paratrooper helmets. These were the "original" paratrooper helmet used from the creation of the paratroops and replaced by the M-1C at the end of the War. Most US paratroopers had this style helmet until late 1944 or early 1945. The M-1C did not become common until the Rhine operations in 1945. We only manufacture M-2's in WWII Parts configuration. We do not have cheaper version.

Steel Pots: US WWII front seam, fitted with new, correct "D" chinstrap bales, and new od 3 "khaki" paratrooper chinstraps. Shells are stripped and refinished in the correct dark olive drab lusterless color with texture. These are NOT actual WWII manufacture D-bale helmets. Those are very rare and cost well over ten thousand dollars.

Liners: Westinghouse manufacture, refurbished with new od 3 "khaki" HBT webbing, A-yokes, nape straps, chin cup, sweatband and liner chinstrap. We use our nicest condition liners to build the M2's. We now pick these based on condition and have struggled to find enough minty wartime liners to guarantee them to be 100% WWII. They are all Westinghouse liners, but some were made during Korea. Physically there is zero difference between the two other than the tiny stamp inside the crown under the suspension.

Caution! These bales are attached just like originals, thus they are susceptible to breakage if handled roughly. Do NOT use the helmet as a chair.

Nets, scrim, and first aid packets available at increased cost, and to be fitted by customer.

WARNING!

We cannot guarantee these to be completely free of dings, small cracks
, scratches, or rough spots.

All U.S. helmets are assembled using military surplus steel pots and liners. These are 70+ years old. They are not mint, flawless, stored in a shock-proof-vault-just-for-u. Although we repaint and refurbish them, some evidence of their past use is certain. Small dents, dings or stress cracks are the norm. They are in good to very good shape, but not flawless.

US Helmet "Sizes"

There is only one size! Unlike German helmets and modern day Kevlars, the M-1 M-1C and M-2 helmets and liners come in only one size. The sweatband in the liner adjusts to fit your head via a slide buckle like some baseball caps. Thus, one size fits all. If you get a helmet and it's too tight, you simply need to adjust the sweatband. It's very, very simple.
