Food Can Straps Leather carrying straps for the German backpack food canister (Essenbehalter). These are much harder than the can itself to find- originals are rather rare. There were several patterns of these, in both all leather and a mix of webbing and leather. We copied what seems to be the most typical pattern of all leather models.

Like our MG Lafette straps, these are exactly like the originals in every way. The hardware was custom made from originals as was the design for our cutting die. The leather now comes from the EU and is the best and most expensive available- but it looks really good. We spray the leather with a custom mixed dye matched to unissued WWII German light brown gear, finish it, then die cut it on our press. All parts are then sent overseas for hand sewing with heavy cotton cord, just like WWII leather gear was done.

Markings are now (Oct. 2023) "Otto Koberstein 1942" with WaA . Yes, this firm made these during the War.

Made from 8-9 oz. leather from the EU, imported hardware and hand stitched overseas. Dyed, cut and finished in USA.
