Reproduction of the WWII wool baseball cap issued to US Navy ground crew and aviation personnel. Originals were color coded and came in red, green or blue. We made blue as it's the most sought after. Originals are also one of the rarest pieces of Navy militaria around- it seems everyone wore them after the War.
Our caps are made like those from WWII- wool fabric, green visor, leather sweatband, correct size air vents and non-adjustable design.
The flaw: The reason these are a closeout is that the factory neglected the last step in production of such a cap- they didn't form it.
Baseball caps, especially those with a sweatband like these, need to be formed on a special steam press. Since this wasn't done, the band is folded and wrinkled oddly when new. The fix it pretty simple- get the cap wet, stick it on your head and wear it until it dries.
Sizing: They run slightly big- I did this as wool tends to shrink a bit. So order your normal size- do not "order up" a size or two suspecting we failed to think of this....
Care: Never, ever put these in a washing machine or dryer. They are wool and leather- neither of which gets along with those machines. Hand wash, hang/ wear dry only.
