Product Description

Reproduction of the reversible winter trousers in Marsh 43 pattern camouflage. These were issued from late 1943 until the end of the War and were worn by both Heer (Army) and Luftwaffe units. These are copies of the second version of this uniform, which had reinforced knees and a storm flap for the fly.

There is no correlation between this pattern and any particular unit. Marsh, Splinter and gray models of winter uniforms appear to have been issued indiscriminately and concurrently with one another.

ATF Winter Uniforms 2025:

These garments are not related in anyway to our previous productions- they share zero DNA with those or any other company's products.
The Germans developed a special rayon fabric for use with these winter uniforms, the specs of which were detailed in the Richardson Report from July 1945. We had that copied exactly using both the document as well as authentic fabric samples.

For those familiar with original parkas, they have a particular feel- thin, soft but not exactly silky. These have that same feel- same yarn size, same weave, same thread count and so forth. Like the originals it has a DWR (durable water repellent) treatment. The buttons, pull cords and waist band are copied from originals.

Our insulation is the heaviest polar fleece available- 400 gsm. Why not wool? To copy the Reißwolle used in originals would have raised the price nearly 50%. Fleece is just as thick but slightly lighter in weight, just as warm, dries faster if it gets wet, and can better withstand rides in washing machines and, although we advise against it, dryers.

Buttons, ties, and webbing are all copied from originals.

Original Design Flaw: The method of attaching the suspenders is the one real shortcoming in this design that the Germans only corrected on a few late war trousers via straps and wooden toggles. Used originals typically have replaced buttons and often plugs of fabric missing where buttons pulled off. In an effort to strengthen the waist, we had the manufacturer include some thin webbing inside the lining behind the areas where the suspender buttons are sewn.

However, to be extra safe, we strongly advise those who intend to wear the trousers "in the field" to sew on 4 extra suspender buttons- one next to each of those already in place. It's best to use heavy corded thread, and anchor them with a smaller button on the back.
If a buttons comes loose, it can be miserable trying to hold the pants up, especially if they're wet from snow. If spares are already in place, then it's easy just to re-attach the suspenders and carry on. I am very much speaking from experience.

Fit: These are sized like the originals which were made to allow room for several layers of clothing to be worn underneath.

Washing: The best option is to hand wash these in cold water. Shrinkage will be about 2" for the inseam length. They take about 24 hours to dry when hung over a boot dryer.
We do not recommend using a clothes dryer! We tested this and it increases the shrinkage and it seems to cause the insulation to shift inside. However, the insulation will eventually settle back into place with continued wear....but avoid dryers.

Suspenders included.

Imported.

Water Repellent: The shell fabric used on all the reversible Winter garments has been treated with Teflon. Yes, it's a safe and PFOA/ PFOS free DWR (durable water repellent finish). This allows the fabric to shed freezing rain and drizzle quite well, as well as making it resistant to staining. The coating is not visible, but it does make the fabric feel slightly softer.

Sizing Notes:
1. We copied the original sizing system exactly. The Germans designed these to be worn over several layers of clothing, and thus they are already oversized to allow for this.
2. These are designed to be worn higher than most trousers in order to insulate the body. The top will ride above the navel. If you have a large belly, measure around your middle rather than using your trouser waist size.
3. All inseams are 28". (Same as originals.)
