Over the course of the War, many items of military equipment be simplified to help increase production. As for K98 pouches, some manufacturers began to use rivets instead of hand stitching for more components of the K98 pouches and they dropped the detachable belt loops. Not all factories complied, with some continuing to use the previous method. Thus, these are simply a production variation. They were used by all units of the German Armed Forces.
Each pouch holds six 5 round "stripper" clips, with a pair of pouches holding a total of 60 rounds.
