Shoulder bag used to carry spare ammunition, hand-grenades, rifle-grenades or whatever miscellaneous items the soldier deemed necessary.

In 1943, the Army began to phase in the new, darker shade of olive drab for their field gear. Contractors were permitted to use up existing stocks of the old color and phase in the new one which resulted in many items of equipment having mixed colors- hence the term "transitional".

This version is made following the Philadelphia Quartermaster 299A specification, with olive drab number 3 body and olive drab number 7 trim. (Shoulder straps are OD3.)
