Product Description

Original WWII manufacture German Model 41 Ammunition Cans. These are the earlier pattern cans with the ribs in the lids.

These cans have been cleaned, stripped of all old paint, then refurbished with a correct shade of dark yellow (dunkelgelb), with new die cut gaskets. It's a whole lot of fun to do!

All have legible maker marks on the lid under the handle, but sometimes the stamps are rather faint. Many of this type of can only has a 3 letter code, a few have dates, and only one maker I have seen uses a Waffenamt.

Leather pads on handles? Those were dropped sometime in 1943 and are rarely seen on original dark yellow Patronenkasten. If we ever get the Model 34 cans done those will have them, as will any 1942 Patronenkasten 41 models.

We intentionally use 3 different
shades of Dunkelgelb
Ammo can porn Various shades visible
Color(s): We randomly use three slightly different shades of custom mixed dark yellow that a friend of ours developed over the past 30 years of restoring German vehicles. All of them were matched to original components.

Paint perfection: There is likely to be a scuff, chip or ding in these simply from being moved around the shop. If this is a problem, don't order them.

Camo? Aging? We don't offer either. Camouflaged cans are seldom seen, but they are very popular. However, as the green and/ or brown was applied by the units, it's very subjective and that's best done DIY to your liking. As far as making them look old, the best way to do that is to use them and get the paint dinged up. For a patina, Old English furniture scratch cover can be rubbed on and buffed to one's liking.

Note:
These are 80+ years old! It is highly likely that some evidence of past use & age, such as dings, dents, and minor pitting will be present. There might be a scuff or chip in the paint from moving them around- they're ammo cans, not new cars. That said, these are all in nice condition- we don't fool with cans that look like they were tossed down a mountain.
